In her teens, Vera Wang competed as a professional figure skater.
By the age of 23, Vera Wang became the youngest ever senior fashion editor at Vogue.
15 yrs later, Vera Wang left Vogue to work as a design director for Ralph Lauren.
The first wedding dress she designed was her own, at a cost of $10,000.
A year after her wedding, she opened her bridal shop, selling couture gowns by other designers, while she honed her own designer skills.

Today, Vera Wang is arguably the queen of bridal couture in America. The White by Vera Wang collection, exclusive to David's Bridal, launched today and consists of 7 styles, retailing between $620 - $1488, allowing brides the oppurtunity to wear the designer wedding gown of their dreams.
The good news is that David's Bridal now ships to Ireland...the bad news is that the new collection is only available in store and can not be bought online at this time. However, David's Bridal carries a range of styles from White by Vera Wang which are now selling at discounted prices and can be shipped to Ireland.
Alternatively, Irish brides might consider a second-hand or pre-owned Vera Wang designer wedding dress, (up to 85% off original price), a very tempting proposition in these recessionary times.
