For winter 2012 and Spring 2013, we see familiar and much loved styles from previous seasons tweaked and modernised and new and fresh trends introduced.
The peplum,(a crossover from mainstream fashion trends thanks largely to Victoria Beckham).. great for emphasing the waistline and disguising large hips and pear shaped figures.
Black is used as a dramatic accent colour in waistbands, bows, trim or applique lace detail.
Bows are oversized and used as statement accents.
The corset bodice with boning and ties is strong in many collections and makes a subtle yet stunning statement especially when combined with the trend for including colour in your dress.
Lace is still a big influence, many designers recognising the power of the " Kate Middleton effect" , ( the kate middleton dress is now on display at at buckingham palace). Lace isn't just for princesses though, many designers have incoporated it into their winter 2012 and spring 2013 collections, with or without embellishment in the form of crystals, sequins, embroidery and pearls.
Statement backs, in the form of low cut backs and open backs which may or may not be filled with lace or embellished sheer fabric.
The mermaid style is still feauturing strongly for those confident enough for a figure hugging silhouette.
Tiers, layers and ruffles.,,but with a modern twist.
Neckline trends for winter 2012 and spring 2013 include the use of the boat neck and the illusion neckline created from netting or lace.
Crystals and sparkles, in the form of an accent piece at the waistline, as trim on shoulder straps, or as an all over embellishment all of which add a bit twinkle and shine.
